Chobits>>Anime vs Manga
Actually, there are not so many differences between the Anime and the Manga series of Chobits. However, we do find some. Let's start with the "light" ones, like the fact that in the Anime Hideki and Shinbo live in the same residence for students, while in the Manga, Shinbo lives in an apartment near where Takako sensei (their teacher) is staying. Another one is that, while in the Manga series Yumi is just a highschool student working at Yorokonde like Hideki, in the Anime she is the owner's daughter. As well, in the Anime series Hideki has to apply for cram school (pre college) and find a job, while at the beggining of the Manga he is already studying and working at Yorokonde. Also, Chii gets a job at a bakery called Chiroru. In the Manga series, Hideki used to work there and he recommends Chii.
Now let's go to the "heavier" differences: One of them is that, in the Manga, Hibiya is told to destroy Elda (Chii's real name) by her coworkers, but since she can't do it, she decides to just erase her memories. However, in the Anime series, Hibiya just erases Elda's memories to give her the chance of a happier life with the one she loves. Another fairly important difference is that Ichirou, the creator together with Hibiya of the Chobits series dies due to an illness in the Anime, but the causes of his death are unclear in the Manga.
As usual, we also have some "extra" episodes in the Anime series featuring some irrelevant and self-conclusive stories. A good example of this is the episode in which Chii needs a power recharge and she gets really sick because of it. And of course, we have our long time friends: those beautiful episodes in which two characters chat and sum up what's hapenned so far and so we keep watching clips of past episodes... we have two of those in Chobits -_-
