Shinbo promptly becomes Hideki's best friend. He lives at the same residence for students, right next door. He is one of the most lovable characters of the series, so understanding and always acting so mature, even though he's the same age as Hideki, 19 years old. He's always willing to help Hideki in everything he needs, and, since he knows pretty much about Persocons, he's the one Hideki comes to when he has a problem with Chii. Of course that whatever Shinbo cannot solve ends up woith Minoru.
If you haven't watched the Anime or read the Manga, don't read any further: spoiler ahead!
As we approach the end of the series we come accross a surprise: Shinbo is dating Takako sensei! He fell madly in love with her when he saw her cry alone in the dark one night, and from then onwards he kept making attempts to conquer her heart... which he eventually accomplished. This comes a shock, since he doesn't ever seem interested in Takako... except for some tips that you don't link to an affair at the moment, such as the time they play a RPG and he chooses Takako as his alterego in the game, or the time he looks so disturbed when he finds out his teacher spent the night at Hideki's (but who wouldn't be!)
