Card Captor Sakura>> Movies

The Sealed Card

The second CCS movie was released in the summer of 2000 in Japan, and it was promoted as the true ending of the Anime series. However, the ending the movie provides is completely ifferent from the one in the Manga (which is great and I hope I'll be able to see animated some day...).

The first surprise this movie comes up with is "Kero-chan ni Omakase!", a short film of about 15 minutes, starring Kero-chan and Spi-chan. Nice, short and quite funny.

After this cute introduction, we are transported to a few months after the end of the Anime, when the "Flowers Festival" is being celebrated in Tomoeda. Syaoran and Meiling come back from Hong khong for the hollidays, and Li is very worried because he has revealed his true feelings to Sakura but she hasn't answered, so he does not know how she feels about him. The most compromising situation that comes up between our two sweet hearts is in a school play, in which Sakura plays the role of the princess and Syaoran... the role of the prince! (surprise, surprise...)

This time, the mystery element is introduced by the fact that some random thngs start to dissappear without any explanation, and finally, the Sakura Cards end up leaving their owner. Sakura speaks to Eriol over the phone for advice (he is in England), and he tells her that Clow created one last card, which has the exact same amount of energy as all the other cards together. This card is "The Void", and it exists so as to balance the other cards, sort of the Yin of the cards Sakura has (which would be the Yang). Anyway, this card was sealed in Eriol's mansion, but it was freed when some construction work took place at the house. Now, the card wants to absorve the other cards, and Eriol informs Sakura that the only way to defeat it is by giving up the most precious thing for her.

During the fight, Sakura suddenly starts to fear that Syaoran might be the thing she has to give up, but right when the card makes its move to absorve him, "The Love" card (which Sakura has with her still) interferes and both cards, "The Love" and "The Void" are combinned. This is how "The Hope" card is born, and "The Void" card will never feel empty or alone again.
