Tomoyo is Sakura's best friend... well actually she is Sakura's 2nd cousin, since their mothers are cousins. However the girls don't know this because Sakura's mother's family dislikes Sakura's fother, so they did not stay in touch after Sakura's parents got married. Tomoyo is a very clever girl: she realizes about Syaoran's feelings for Sakura without anyone telling her (maybe she knows even before Syaroan himself). She is also very talented, since she sings beautifully, she draws, and she also designs costumes for Sakura. In the Anime series, Tomoyo's obsession with filming Sakura's every move and designing clothes for her makes us wonder about what her true feelings for Sakura are. In the Manga, however, we know: she admits that she is in love with Sakura in the "Sakura Cards" part, which would correspond to the third season of the Anime series.
Tomoyo is one of the very best characters ever created... in my opinion, of course^^. She is a little girl, but at the same time she is very mature and intelligent. She analyses the world around her with such a wise perspective that many adults would envy her. However, she still is a child, and there are many things of her environment she doesn't notice (like the real relationship between Touya -Sakura's brother- and Yukito). But this doesn't keep her from being wise... which makes us wonder: Are those "things" she doesn't notice really important, or should we, as adults, try to look beyond them as well?
