The Clow Cards are magical beings which take the form of cards. Created by Clow, they provide their powers to whoever becomes their master. However, to in order to do this, one needs to comply with two conditions: 1) Have magical powers, and 2)Pass the Guardians of the Cards' trial.
Each Clow Card has a unique personality, related to their powers. Most of them embody a force of nature. In the Manga series there are 19 Clow Cards, while in the Anime series there are 52 of them.
Another interesting piece of inromation about the Clow Cards is that they relate to their master in a very peculiar way. On the one hand they increase their master's magical powers, but on the other hand, they feed on them. In other words, their master's magical powers keep them alive, and in return, they provide him/her with more energy and spectacular abilities.
