Air Manga was published for the first time in Japan in Comptiq MediaMix Magazine, illustrated by Yukimaru Katsura (yes, the same illustrator of Girl meets Girl). As a consequence of the artist's distinctive style, the character design is completely different from that of the TV series... personally, I find the character design of the TV series very original, artistic and beautiful (once you get used to it), and the one of the manga quite dull... but that's just me.
The manga series started on August, 2004 and finished on March, 2006. And the first recopilated volume is available at Amazon.com.
