So.. this is basically an FAQ, so if after watching the show you have any more doubts, please e-mail them to me and I'll try to answer them the best I can!!! ^.^U
1. What does the curse upon Kanna consist of?
In the anime series, Kanna is cursed by Shaoling Monks to forever carry sadness in her heart while she flies in the sky without ever being able to return to Earth. While she flies, she is only able to see sad and cruel images of her life. She will incarnate on Earth, however, many times, but she is never to find true love (though she will try to) because whenever she feels love she will begin a slow and painful death.
In the movie, this curse affects all winged beings equally, and, according to it, if a winged being loves someone, they will die a slow and painful death. Why Kanna re-incarnates is never explained in the movie.
2. Why does this curse affect Misuzu?
Because she is Kanna's re-incarnation.
3. How is Yukito supposed to save Kanna?
Well, from what I can understand, Kanna's curse is extremely cruel to her specially because she can't stop watching the sad and violent moments of her life... Yukito has to give Kanna happy memories so that she can break the curse.
4. Why does Yukito turn into a crow?
When he wishes to help Misuzu with all his heart, the magical puppet, that contains the desires and powers of all Yukito's ancestors, turns him into a crow so that, once he's witnessed Misuzu's happy moments, he can carry these happy memories to Kanna up in the sky, who might, this way, be able to break the curse upon her.
5. Why is Misuzu ill from the start, even before she falls in love with Yukito?
Feelings of love trigger the curse upon Misuzu, so the curse is not "activated" until she meets Yukito. However, the spirit of a winged bieng is too powerful for a human to contain... this causes Misuzu to be extremely ill and weak, even when she hasn't fallen in love yet.
