Kano is the second girl featured in Air, and she is also very cute and sweet. She is always playing with Potato, a dog that doesnot belong to the Kirishimas but lives with them. In fact, he is the reason why she and Yukito meet.
Kano believes that she has undeveloped magical powers, which will turn up when she grows up and takes off the yellow handkerchief from her wrist. This makes Yukito think that Kano might just be the incarnation of the "woman in the sky" he's looking for.

Just like Misuzu, Kano is also related to a woman that lived a long time ago. This woman was forced to kill her own child because he was ill and everyone thought he was cursed, but she couldn't do it, so she killed herself instead. As a consequence, since she was little, Kano enters some kind of trance in which the soul of this sorrowing mother takes over and Kano tries to commit suicide. To stop her from doing this, Hijiri, her older sister, gave kano a yellow handkerchief and told her that, if she never took it off, when she grw up she would develop magical powers. This kept the little girl concentrated in the tale and so the woman's soul didn't take over again... until the night Kano finds out that there is nothing extrordinary about the handkerchief and that everything about her magical powers is a lie.
