Ryuuya was Kanna's guardian, and he eventually fell in love with her. Together with Uraha, Kanna's servant, Ryuuya helped Kanna escape the castle in search for her mother, who was imprissonned in a cave. He was willing to give his life for Kanna, but in the end it was Kanna who sacrificed for her new family: Uraha and Ryuuya.
Years later, Ryuuya and Uraha married and they swore that they (and their decendants) would look for Kanna's incarnation and free her from her constant pain, no matter how long it took them. Yukito is a direct decendant of them.
